After nearly three years of silence, Lady Gaga has added another video to her “Gagavision” series on Youtube, documenting her star’s life. Episode n° 45 (2’31”), published in January 2014, shows her landing in Paris in her private plane, then being escorted to a majestic palace where the pop star embarks on trying a long series of garments by Versace… being testimonial for the label’s Spring/Summer 2014 Collection. The soundtrack for the video (shot during the Paris Atelier Versace Couture Weekend) perfectly combines international glamour and Neapolitan spirit: “Mambo Italiano” by Rosemary Clooney. There’s nothing unusual these days about glamorous pop stars also working in the fashion world. For some of them, indeed, the interrelations are so many and so fruitful that success in each field combines to add up to a powerful ‘personal fame brand’. Rita Ora is a perfect example: a successful pop singer, born in Kosovo and raised in the UK, testimonial for Madonna’s Material Girl line and protagonist of the screen version of Fifty Shades of Grey. Rita’s 2014, it seems, will be a busy year in terms of non-musical commitments… in the Donna Karan Resort campaign, she floats through New York traffic in a yellow taxi with a DKNY number-plate, while in February she signed a testimonial contract with the UK cosmetics giant Rimmel for the launch of Color Rush, a collection of alluringly-named lipsticks and nail varnishes in luxurious colours. Meanwhile, various images on her Instagram profile publicize her current collaboration with Adidas, and herald her next role with the company: as a fashion designer.

Mentre alcune immagini pubblicate sul suo profilo Instagram preannunciano gli esiti dell’attuale collaborazione con Adidas, azienda per la quale la cantante si cimenterà nel ruolo di fashion designer.
The remake of the Disney classic The Sleeping Beauty was announced a while ago. But it only emerged a few days ago that Lana Del Ray would be singing the main song in the soundtrack. This young singer – born Elizabeth Woolridge Grant – who broke into the big time with her album Born to die, is no newcomer to film soundtracks: she was also chosen by Baz Luhrmann as a key voice in his The Great Gatsby. In the trailer for Maleficent (this is the title of the remake, due to open in 2014, starring an icily cruel Angelina Jolie) Lana’s deep dark voice seems to emerge from the abysses of a truly timeless tale.
