Announcement for passengers travelling to the early nineteen hundreds: the Orient Express train for the dizzying cabaret bars of Berlin is ready to leave from June 2016! Yes, Belmond, the company which runs the legendary luxury Venice Simplon Orient Express, has announced the launch of a new European route which will connect London with Berlin via Paris, once again evoking the exclusive opulence of the golden age of international rail travel through exquisite period rail carriages and a degree of excellence in service that could only come from another century. The first journey is programmed for 2 June 2016: history flashing forward to today in a flurry of reenacted perfection: book soon for the epochal “all aboard!”

Proprio così: la compagnia Belmond, che gestisce i leggendari Venice Simplon Orient Express, ha appena annunciato che a partire dal 2016 sarà inaugurata una nuova tratta europea che collegherà Londra a Berlino, passando per Parigi, attraverso un vero e proprio viaggio nel tempo pronto ad approdare nella magica atmosfera d’inizio secolo, tra il lusso delle carrozze d’epoca e la delizia di servizi esclusivi. Il primo viaggio è programmato per il 2 giugno 2016: un pezzo di storia si rinnova, fedele alla propria tradizione e senza tradire le proprie origini. Che aspettate? In carrozza!
Werner Aisslinger strikes again, this time in his native city, designing the unusual and pleasantly disorientating interiors of the 25hours Hotel Bikini in Berlin. Inaugurated in 2014 and situated near the city’s famous zoo, the hotel owes its name to the modernistic building which houses its numerous spaces, including various public areas and 149 guest rooms, furnished with the creative verve of the German designer to resemble a contemporary and pacific metropolitan jungle featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and natural materials. The intelligent interior design project, however, is by no means the only factor contributing to the adjudication of the Design Hotel award: the hotel also offers visitors a series of added value services such as the Neni Restaurant – offering oriental cuisine – and the Monkey Bar, a sauna with views out onto the Tiergarten and a panoramic terrace.
Werner Aisslinger colpisce ancora e lo fa nella sua città natale, progettando gli interni insoliti e spiazzanti del 25hours Hotel Bikini di Berlino. L’albergo, inaugurato nel 2014 e situato a poca distanza dal famoso zoo cittadino, deve il proprio nome al palazzo modernista che ne ospita gli spazi, tra i quali si contano diverse aree comuni e 149 camere private, arredate dall’estro creativo del designer tedesco come una moderna e pacifica giungla metropolitana caratterizzata da finestre a tutta altezza e materiali naturali. L’attento progetto di interior design, tuttavia, non è certamente l’unico dei fattori che hanno contribuito a permettere alla struttura ricettiva l’aggiudicamento del premio di Design Hotel: l’albergo offre infatti ai propri ospiti una serie di servizi di alto valore, come il ristorante Neni, nel quale si servono piatti orientali, ed il Monkey Bar, sauna con vista sul Tiergarten e terrazza panoramica.
The 2010 opening of the Michel Berger Hotel in Berlin, designed by the ex-enfant prodige of German design, Werner Aisslinge, was promoted via an unusual advertising campaign featuring, among other things, the workmen engaged on its renovation drinking tankards of beer at an imaginary bar counter. That bar counter now exists, as does a restaurant, a wellbeing centre, a summer garden and a wide range of conference facilities. Not to mention its guest rooms, which come in all kinds and sizes: the Intimate, the Loft, the Band, the Grand, the Grande Chalet, the Chalet, the Room with a View, the Golden and the Intelligent. The hotel is also open to non-residents. Conceived and run by a large and versatile creative team, the Michel Berger Hotel is also a Design Studio specializing in Graphic Projects and Poetic Objects.
Nel 2010 l‘apertura del Michel Berger Hotel di Berlino, progettato dall’ex enfant prodige del design tedesco Werner Aisslinger, fu annunciata da un’inconsueta campagna pubblicitaria in cui era possibile osservare, tra l’altro, gli operai addetti alla ristrutturazione mentre sorseggiavano boccali di birra davanti ad un immaginario bancone. Quel bancone ora c’è e con lui ci sono anche un ristorante, un centro benessere, un giardino estivo e una vasta scelta di sale conferenza. Per non parlare delle stanze, per tutti i gusti e per tutte le misure: l’Intima, il Loft, la Band, la Grande, il Grande Chalet, lo Chalet, la Camera Con Vista, la Dorata e l’Intelligente. L’hotel offre i propri servizi anche a visitatori non residenti; ideato e gestito da una ricca équipe di creativi, il Michel Berger Hotel è anche uno studio di design che progetta elaborati grafici e oggetti poetici.
