After its world preview at the recent edition of the Tribeca Film Festival, festivals and cinemas around the world will this month be showing the fashion documentary on Dior directed by the French director Frédéric Tcheng. Shot shortly after the appointment of Raf Simons as the maison’s artistic director in 2012, the documentary focuses above all on the frenetic and passionate collective preparatory process thanks to which – in only 8 weeks – Simons created his first haute couture collection. Tcheng is a specialist in this sector, having in the past collaborated in the making of documentaries on Diana Vreeland and Valentino. Here he goes backstage and directs his camera on the magic-making, revealing the extraordinarily skilled dedication and the reverential love that drive an unbelievable team united by a single shared objective: to perpetrate the Dior myth.

 

Dopo la sua anteprima mondiale nel corso dell’ultimo Tribeca Film Festival, approderà questo mese nelle sale cinematografiche e nei festival di tutto il mondo il fashion-doc diretto dal regista francese Frédéric Tcheng e dedicato alla storica maison Dior. Girato all’indomani della carica a direttore artistico di Raf Simons nel 2012, il documentario segue passo passo il frenetico ed appassionato lavoro che invase la maison nelle sole otto settimane impiegate per dar vita alla sua prima collezione di haute couture. Tcheng, regista collaudato del settore (aveva in passato collaborato alla realizzazione di documentari su Diana Vreeland e Valentino), scosta le quinte della passerella e ridireziona i riflettori per svelare tutta la magia, l’eccelsa professionalità e l’amore reverenziale che caratterizzano il lavoro di un’equipe straordinaria, accomunata dalla condivisione di un obiettivo commune: perpetuare il mito Dior.
