New York’s Lincoln Center presents the third instalment of its contemporary art initiatives: a stunning display of sculptural works by the Brooklyn artist Dustin Yellin, mounted in the theatre’s main hall throughout the 2015 Winter Season. In order to pay homage to the art of dance, the artist creates a series of crystalline prisms containing anthropomorphic forms in flight, suspended in the instant of exploding into a thousand coloured particles resembling butterfly wings. Created using mixed techniques and exquisitely painted, these sculptures brilliantly evoke various steps and shapes fundamental to the language of classical ballet, embodying propulsive strength and virtuoso elegance.

 

Il Lincoln Center di New York presenta il terzo episodio dell’iniziativa dedicata all’arte contemporanea: una impressionante installazione ad opera dell’artista di Brooklyn Dustin Yellin, allestita nella hall principale in occasione della stagione invernale 2015. L’artista, in omaggio all’arte della danza, presenta una serie di prismi cristallini all’interno dei quali volteggiano figure antropomorfe, sospese nell’atto di scomporsi in mille particelle colorate simili ad ali di farfalla. Le sculture, realizzate con tecnica mista e dipinte con estrema maestria, ritraggono fedelmente alcuni dei passi fondamentali del balletto, tra forza propulsiva ed incantevole virtuosismo.
