A waterfall of luxury, AVENUE SHANGHAI
Shanghai is flooded by a cascade of luxury… in the shape of a new building complex called Avenue Shanghai, designed by the Hong Kong studio Jun Aoki & Associates. This consists of a huge vertical tower designed for use as offices, with at the base an extravagant swirl of spaces devoted to luxury brand retailing. Built in reinforced concrete and coated in enameled white tiling, the structure deliberately evokes the concept of a mass of water pouring down vertically from the tower and then spreading out in liquid lines around its base. The curved surfaces give the whole structure a glimmering iridescence, while the inlaid lights on the perimeter illuminate the night with innumerable drops of light.
Una cascata di lusso precipita sul tessuto di Shanghai. E’ il nuovo edificio Avenue Shanghai, realizzato dallo studio di architettura di Hong Kong Jun Aoki & Associates. Il complesso, che ospita i più rinomati marchi del lusso comprende una torre verticale adibita ad uffici e una serie di iperboliche strutture per la vendita al dettaglio. Realizzato in cemento armato e rivestito da candide piastrelle di ceramica smaltata, l’edificio trae ispirazione dal movimento impetuoso di una cascata d’acqua. Le sue superfici ricurve donano all’architettura un effetto costantemente cangiante, mentre gli intarsi praticati lungo le pareti perimetrali illuminano la notte con innumerevoli gocce di luce.
