As from last September, Milan can boast another mouth-watering crossover point between high fashion and flavour in the heart of its luxury shopping zone: Marchesi by Prada has opened a delightful new sales point at number 9 Corso Montenapoleone. This ancient pastry confectioner inaugurated in the mid-1800s, which recently came under the control of the Prada Group, offers its sweet-toothed customers every possible kind of dessert and sweet: cakes, biscuits, caramels, pralines, brioches, pastries, chocolates, all irresistible in taste and in appearance, all wrapped in vintage pastel-coloured paper. The store has been redesigned by architect Roberto Baciocchi to reflect the intense relationship between the traditional confectionary brand and the futuristic aura of the fashion house, in a series of spaces resembling a set by Wes Anderson: 120 square metres of brightly coloured marble punctuated by detailing in cherry wood and soothing green velvet.
Dallo scorso settembre i milanesi possono godere di una pausa golosa e di alta moda lungo l’impervio cammino dello shopping: Marchesi by Prada ha inaugurato un nuovo, delizioso, punto vendita al numero 9 di Corso Montenapoleone. L’antica pasticceria, attiva dalla metà dell’Ottocento e recentemente acquisita in maggioranza dal gruppo Prada, offrirà ai golosi avventori dessert di ogni tipo: torte, biscotti, caramelle, praline, brioche, pasticcini e cioccolatini dal gusto irresistibile e dall’estetica accattivante, ciascuno avvolto in un packaging retrò dai toni pastello. Lo spazio, progettato dall’architetto Roberto Baciocchi, traduce letteralmente la stretta relazione tra i valori tradizionali del marchio e lo spirito futuristico della casa di moda, in una serie di ambienti degni di una scenografia di Wes Anderson: 120 metri quadri ricoperti di marmi cangianti, costellati di dettagli in legno di ciliegio e specchio e avvolti dalla morbida carezza del velluto verde.
The drum-rolls are mounting in intensity, in preparation for the imminent opening of the new Milan headquarters of the Prada Foundation, planned for next May. Although images of the structure are being kept top secret, excited indiscretions indicate a host of surprises. The whole operation, headed by Miuccia Prada, aims to create a focal point holding the fruits of all the extraordinary collaborations carried out by the prestigious brand over the years, expressing the essence of a continuous creative process that fuses fashion with artistic heritage and experimentation. The complex will rise from the remains of an old distillery, partly restored and partly integrated with new extensions, is designed by the OMA studio headed by Rem Koolhaas. It will also contain an information area created by the École Nationale Supériore d’Architecture de Versailles and a bar conceived by the visionary American film director Wes Anderson. The events planned for the first year are rich and varied: exhibitions of selected works of art from the Prada Collection ranging from Greek and Roman antiquities to radical contemporary art, curated by Salvatore Settis, along with site-specific installations by Robert Gober and Thomas Demand, plus a preview of a new documentary by Roman Polanski and film screenings illustrating his artistic influences.
Il rullo di tamburi si propaga con sempre maggiore insistenza ad annunciare l’imminente apertura della nuova sede milanese della Fondazione Prada (prevista per il prossimo maggio). Sebbene le immagini della struttura di Largo Isarco siano ancora top secret, le informazioni che trapelano sono numerose e succulenti! Un’operazione, quella capitanata da Miuccia Prada, che promette di far convergere le tante fortunate collaborazioni sviluppate dallo storico marchio nel corso degli anni, in un percorso di ricerca perenne che mescola moda ed avangiardia artistica. Il complesso, che sorgerà sulle ceneri di un’antica distilleria in parte recuperata ed in parte implementata da nuove edificazioni, è stato progettato dallo studio OMA, capitanato da Rem Koolhaas, ed ospiterà al suo interno un’area didattica ad opera dell’École Nationale Supériore d’Architecture di Versailles ed un bar ideato dal visionario regista statunitense Wes Anderson. La programmazione del primo anno di attività della fondazione si preannuncia ricca e multisfaccettata: ad un’esposizione di opere antiche provenienti dalla Collezione Prada, curata da Salvatore Settis, si affiancheranno installazioni site-specific di Robert Gober e Thomas Demand, mentre Roman Polanski presenterà qui in anteprima un inedito documentario ed una rassegna cinematografica.
The acclaim reserved for Grand Budapest Hotel at the 2014 Berlinale is by no means the only satisfaction Berlin has granted the film director from Texas in recent years. Last year, for example, a sophisticated short film shot for Prada won the prize for Best Film for Major Brand and Best Screenplay at the Berlin Fashion Film Festival, the annual event staged during the Berlin Fashion Week. This short – authored by Anderson and his companion on Moonrise Kingdom, Roman Coppola – publicizing Prada’s new perfume, Candy, features a stunning and ever-hungry Léa Seydoux contested by two men, set in a retro Parisian ambience: delicious!
Il successo riscosso da Grand Budapest Hotel alla Berlinale 2014 non è certo l’unica celebrazione che la città ha riservato negli ultimi anni al regista texano Wes Anderson. Lo scorso anno infatti, un breve e raffinato cortometraggio prodotto per Prada si era aggiudicato il premio come miglior film per major brand e miglior sceneggiatura al Berlino Fashion Film Festival, evento annuale organizzato durante la settimana della moda berlinese. Il cortometraggio, firmato da Anderson insieme al compagno di Moonrise Kingdom Roman Coppola per pubblicizzare la nuova fragranza Prada, Candy, vede una golosissima e bellissima Léa Seydoux disputata da due uomini sullo sfondo di una Parigi dai toni retrò. Delizioso!
